Thought I'd break up the circus theme a bit with these interesting little baubles. Hanging glass bulbs with delicate feathers tucked inside, what a simple yet beautiful idea. I want a collection of them.

Whether it's free hand or with an actual stencil, stenciling walls, ceilings {loving the royal ceiling medallions}, furniture and floors is totally trending at the moment. It's a simple way to spruce up a room or space with out wallpaper or tons of paint. Depending on the pattern and paint you choose you can achieve different looks. Some hot stencil patterns are bohemian-Moroccan shapes, Hollywood Regency trellis, French palace-inspired flourishes and bold modern-chic graphic prints. I've always been an admirer of stationary. In fact, my favorite time of year as a kid was back to school time because I knew my parents would take me to an office supply store and let me pick out what I needed for school. There's just something about crisp new paper, freshly sharpened pencils and  colorful pens...don't even get me started on my obsession with Sanrio. Oh, it was so exciting. It was my Christmas morning. My love for anything paper, pencils, arts and crafts, and practically anything with calligraphy came from my Dad. I remember sitting at his side observing his beautiful penmanship when signing his signature and learning stroke by stroke how to copy it. To this day my love for stationary continues to grow. I value the originality and unique features of each font, stencil pattern and pretty paper I happen to stumble upon. It just makes me happy.

So you can imagine my delight when going through MaeMae Paperie's blog. Her designs are bananas! I mean it's seriously not fair how much creativity this lady has! She designs bespoke stationary, invitation suites, branding and gift tags. Each one more unique and captivating than the last. I love that they all look different, suiting each clients needs and likes, and yet stays true to her style. I love her logos, monograms, color stories and choice of patterns. I'm all about mixing patterns and prints. Her inspiration boards are a whole other thing to get lost in. Thanks Pinterest for being so amazing in letting me discover so many great vendors and ideas and keep it all organized so well! Design Style: Old Hollywood Retro Glamour

The home of burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese, featured in Instyle's February 2011 issue, is "an homage to the Golden Age of Hollywood" in every possible way. I bought this issue  specifically for this lovely article. It oozes style just the way she does. Every room has a theme, from her Hollywood Regency boudoir, chinoserie shoe room {that's right a whole room just for shoes and another for her costumes and hats}, art deco library to the 1950's pastel pink kitchen. I could so live here! She moved into this Los Feliz home that was built in the 40's, appropriately, and added that special Dita touch to it with the help of designer Stacia Dunnam. How inspiring to live in a home surrounded with vintage glamour nostalgia. My two biggest style inspirations are Gwen Stefani & Dita Von Teese, just a little tid-bit about me.

I wanted to focus on the wallpaper through out the home; there are at least 5, if not more, different kinds. Wallpaper is making a comeback, specifically vintage wallpaper.  It's pretty for an entire room, one accent wall or to line drawers and cabinets with. In the bedroom there's a very feminine light grey paper with calligraphy flourishes, a vintage floral print in the dining room and red damask in the hat room. But the red animal silhouette paper in the kitchen is my favorite. Then there's the fantastic flocked velvet damask wallpaper in the living room, that oddly I think goes perfectly with her taxidermy collection. It may seem busy to some but I like the playful eclectic, almost kitschy style mix through out. It keeps things interesting and like Dita describes, "I feel like I'm in a dollhouse". What girl wouldn't love to play dress up for a living?

Defining Decor: Gold accents in the Office

Two very different offices with fabulous gold accents in common. These two rooms have the idea of placing a gold decor object behind the desk to bring focus and tie in the room. I love the simplicity and inviting feel of the first one with clean lines, neutral colors and warm lighting from those gold lamps. I like the touch of milk glass and fresh flowers too. The second one is dramatic and full of contrast, I like the filigree mirror, striped curtains and the roughness of the exposed brick wall. The lamps with hanging crystal accents flow well with the statement baroque chandelier. And how could your clients not feel like royalty sitting in those chairs?

Defining Decor: Jessica Stam's NY Apt

I love the style of her apartment. Decor says it all. It's so refreshing, clean, and minimal in such a good way. It has a comfy feel {with that vintage couch}, with feminine touches {fresh flowers always pretty up a room}. And those Hollywood Regency lamps and side table are divine contrast against those Moroccan doors. That wall of mirrors and other reflective objects {like those great abstract vases in different sizes} really open up the narrow space, as does the glass coffee table.

Baby Love

It seems as though everyone lately has been in baby-mode. Well, girls at least. There are just so many cute things for babies lately that I guess our maternal instincts er, should I say shopping instincts are taking over. Baby blogs, perfectly styled baby showers, adorable baby clothes, and not to mention nursery re-designs, have become the "it" thing. I've stumbled upon some myself that I can't help but follow. So what if a girl's not pregnant, that's why there's a nesting phase. Here is one of my favorites blogs of the moment. This is most likely going to turn in to a series, there are so many lovely things, so stay tuned.

Lay Baby Lay is a new blog where the author styles rooms based off of readers requests and color palettes. She has fantastic taste and a great eye for color and design. The middle nursery is her own, so lovely.

Decor: Framed Silhouettes

I don't know about you guys but I have a weakness for silhouettes, especially grouped in ornate or unique frames. They can be custom-made a bunch of different ways-- using tracing paper, on a computer program, cut out from paper, embroidered, or painted. I've seen them done on cute paper doilies, on either color or print construction paper, and patterned fabric. It's a sweet way to display family members, pets, or favorite landmarks.
