Looking for a neat weekend DIY project? You know, something easy because who wants to use power tools, right? Well here's one that is easy to do, only requires a few things and once it's done displays your lovely collection of necklaces! i just love new ways to dress up a dressing table or vanity area. At the moment I use plain push pins in a wall to hang my longer necklaces so I'm thinking this little project is a must this weekend. Instead of plain white rope use pretty ribbon, hemp rope or a piece of chain link. Please send me a picture if you decide to make this easy DIY jewelry branch, I'd love to see your finished product!

Bridal Shower: DIY Decor Ideas

Hey girls, I know I've been away for a few days but I've been crafting up a pretty bundle of things for the bridal shower. I thought I'd share a sneak peek of just some of the decor I've made so far. As you all know the color palette for my friend's bridal shower is navy, blush pink, white and grey. I'm having a blast coming up with pretty decor and sourcing props! Some things I'm basing off of inspiration I've seen online and other things are all my own ideas. I love the challenge of coming up with neat craft ideas to infuse with the bride-to-be's personality and things she loves. She loves shabby chic, French-inspired decor and romantic details so I'm trying my best to make all those things happen. All with a super girly twist of course.

I chose paper as my main material to work with. As I mentioned before with the paper pinwheels. I've made some of those as well as paper poms in different sizes and colors and bunting to match the mini one that will be the cake topper (top right). Striped paper straws with custom flags that say "Love is all you need" (bottom right) Auna's favorite quote and the motto for the shower were a must.

Crepe paper is super versatile! Turns out you can do almost anything with it. I decided to make ruffled crepe flowers as the base for brooches for each of the wedding party girls to wear at the shower (top left). I also used tulle layered on top of the crepe flowers to give it a bit of fluff and texture. Then printed the titles onto bracket labels and mounted them onto navy card stock and cut them out. I added ribbon to the Bride-to-be's brooch to set it apart.

I've also made individual dessert label cards. I bought scrapbooking paper in the color palette then measured, cut and mounted it onto folded card stock tents for durability. Then labeled them with the name of each treat. And topped it with twine tied in a bow. I can't wait to put this dessert table together! So excited.

Each of these materials are super affordable and can be bought at the dollar store or Michael's with their weekly coupons. It's a nice surprise to add custom touches to an event, it makes it that much more personal. I'll be posting more decor projects and once the shower is here I'll make sure and post finished pictures of how it all turned out!

Came across these pretty goblets made from glass candlestick holders (you can find these exact ones at the dollar store) glued to the bottom of small Ball jars via Pinterest, and just had to pass on the cute idea. So simple and sweet. For another neat DIY idea similar to this go here.

Today I Like: Exposed Brick

The exposed brick wall adds texture in this shabby chic room. And that delicate chandelier is the perfect off-set to the rustic brick. Love the look but don't have actual brick walls? You can fake it with faux brick paneling. Hope everyone's having a nice father's Day weekend!

I love miniature gardens in glass. It's simple- just sand, pebbles moss and a few mini plants but it's so much more than that. They're little pieces of nature indoors. My favorites are the ones with rolling hills of moss with surprise objects like itty-bitty animals or keepsakes all atop a fancy pedestal. Click on numbers 1 or 4 to learn the step-by-step DIY. Whether it's free hand or with an actual stencil, stenciling walls, ceilings {loving the royal ceiling medallions}, furniture and floors is totally trending at the moment. It's a simple way to spruce up a room or space with out wallpaper or tons of paint. Depending on the pattern and paint you choose you can achieve different looks. Some hot stencil patterns are bohemian-Moroccan shapes, Hollywood Regency trellis, French palace-inspired flourishes and bold modern-chic graphic prints. DIY: Make your own milk glass

What a great idea for making your own milk glass! I recently took to scouring the local thrift stores every so often to build my milk glass collection that right now mostly consists of long-neck vases and one pretty pedestal. My husband and I occasionally house-sit for a darling couple and I couldn't help but notice her extensive collection of the pretty glass practically stacked on top of each other in a credenza in her dining room. I'm seriously considering asking to please be paid in milk glass next time. I don't know what it is about this type of opaque glass that draws me to it but I know I want lots of it! By spray painting glass that has or hasn't been decorated with puffy paint, your option, you can mimic milk glass quite easily. Let each high gloss coat dry completely and make sure to spray lightly and evenly. That's it!

They're easy to make {both mini and regular cupcake sizes} and I think they'd also make cute gifts packaged in a pastry box and tied with baker's twine.

{DIY: Tin Can Vase}

This DIY project is simple, sweet, and great to do when you have a day off and want to take it easy. Fun to do with friends or kids. These vases would look great clustered together at a bridal or baby shower!

What you’ll need:
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Scrapbook Paper or gift wrap with interesting designs
- Decorative ribbon
- Spray Adhesive
- Containers to cover like an empty can, old unused vases and soda cans
- Floral foam
- Flowers

Instructions:
Step 1: Choose the container you would like to cover and measure a strip of the scrapbook paper to fit around the container.
Step 2: Cut the scrapbook paper into a strip that fits around the container.
Step 3: Spray a thin layer of the spray adhesive onto your scrapbook paper strip on the side you want adhered to your container.
Step 4: Wait one minute for the spray adhesive to get really sticky.
Step 5: Then, carefully adhere the scrapbook paper strip to the container.
Step 6: To add more interest to your covered container, spray measured pieces of ribbon with the spray adhesive and adhere to the container.
Step 7: Then, fill your container about halfway full with water. Cut flower stems at an angle to ensure they get the most water pumping through their stems. For a more hand-picked feel, simply cut the stems and place in the container. For more of a controlled, full look, you can use floral foam. Simply cut the floral foam into a piece that fits snuggly into your container and insert stems into foam.

{DIY: Cake Stand}

Just had to post about this darling idea to repurpose vintage plates and glass candlestick holders by turning them into a cupcake stand or serving tray. I've been wanting an occasion to come up as an excuse to make something like this. I like that it's a cheap craft project, I can thrift for some floral plates and I have those exact candlestick holders left over from my wedding. Besides that I'm only missing some strong craft adhesive. This would also be a great jewelry catch-all!

DIY: Tea Party Ideas

 

I'm in the mood for a lovely tea party! A DIY Tea Party. I found some cute ideas that would be fun to do or make at a tea party, like Martha Stewart's idea for making your own teacup candles! Super cute. 

Or making your own mini donuts, awesome invention. I want one!

Oh, you could also gather a bunch of wild flowers and create your own floral arrangement in teacups, this is great if you want to have your party outdoors.

But the cutest thing I found was this Tea Cupcakes Mold set, you bake the cupcake right in these silicone teacup molds and they're ready to be decorated and served! Create a buffet of colorful sprinkles and frosting and have at it.

Yum!
