Bridal Shower: DIY Decor Ideas

Hey girls, I know I've been away for a few days but I've been crafting up a pretty bundle of things for the bridal shower. I thought I'd share a sneak peek of just some of the decor I've made so far. As you all know the color palette for my friend's bridal shower is navy, blush pink, white and grey. I'm having a blast coming up with pretty decor and sourcing props! Some things I'm basing off of inspiration I've seen online and other things are all my own ideas. I love the challenge of coming up with neat craft ideas to infuse with the bride-to-be's personality and things she loves. She loves shabby chic, French-inspired decor and romantic details so I'm trying my best to make all those things happen. All with a super girly twist of course.

I chose paper as my main material to work with. As I mentioned before with the paper pinwheels. I've made some of those as well as paper poms in different sizes and colors and bunting to match the mini one that will be the cake topper (top right). Striped paper straws with custom flags that say "Love is all you need" (bottom right) Auna's favorite quote and the motto for the shower were a must.

Crepe paper is super versatile! Turns out you can do almost anything with it. I decided to make ruffled crepe flowers as the base for brooches for each of the wedding party girls to wear at the shower (top left). I also used tulle layered on top of the crepe flowers to give it a bit of fluff and texture. Then printed the titles onto bracket labels and mounted them onto navy card stock and cut them out. I added ribbon to the Bride-to-be's brooch to set it apart.

I've also made individual dessert label cards. I bought scrapbooking paper in the color palette then measured, cut and mounted it onto folded card stock tents for durability. Then labeled them with the name of each treat. And topped it with twine tied in a bow. I can't wait to put this dessert table together! So excited.

Each of these materials are super affordable and can be bought at the dollar store or Michael's with their weekly coupons. It's a nice surprise to add custom touches to an event, it makes it that much more personal. I'll be posting more decor projects and once the shower is here I'll make sure and post finished pictures of how it all turned out!

Romantic Shabby-Chic Bridal Shower Florals

L | M | R
           Milk Glass   |  Mercury Glass

Happy Monday! I'm so excited the weather is cooling of and it's slowly beginning to feel like Fall, I can't wait for rain actually. So I'm making all the florals for my friend's upcoming shower that I've been blogging about lately and I'm pretty excited. I don't have a lot of experience but enough to undertake the job.

I have decided on using a mix of milk and mercury glass vessels to keep with the elegant, shabby-chic theme. As for the flowers, my ideal choices I'll be looking for are soft pink and peach roses, some lavender hydrangea, white or cream mums and maybe some sweet peas and dahlias if I'm lucky. The centerpieces will be eclectic and include vases of different sizes along with other decor like frames and teacups that will be sitting on doilies. I'm off to brain storm ideas and plan some more!

Pretty Pleated Pinwheels Decor

via Style Me Pretty (this link has DIY steps)

I'm really loving pleated paper pinwheels for special occasion decor. I've come across them in my bridal shower planning and I will definitely be incorporating them! Pinwheels can be made from fabris, scrapbooking paper, wrapping paper and paper doilies. There are plenty of creative ways to use them, they can be hung, used as a back drop for a dessert bar or glued onto skewers to be used as cake toppers or signage. How cute are the button and little monogram letter centers? I'm so excited to shop for all the crafting supplies and make some darling decor. If you're looking to make these pinwheels for an event here's a how-to at Ruffled. I'll be posting more bridal shower decor ideas soon!

A Much Needed Update + Bridal Shower Fever

Hi girls! Oh, my goodness, lots going on! Hence why I haven't updated my blog in forever and for that I am quite sorry. I've been commuting between Northern and Southern California the last few months and I find it very difficult to get any blogging done, unfortunately. I am working in my hometown of Orange County again so that makes me completely ecstatic! I'm doing bridal hair and makeup with my new associate that I'm over the moon about. I'm one happy girl to have met and be able to work with such an amazing person. Lots of updates on everything that I am doing soon.

I am also freelance writing from home when I'm in NorCal all while starting to plan my best friends bridal shower and help out with her wedding planning! She gets married in November and her bridal shower is mid-October, so lots to do between then and now. I'm already so excited to style, decorate and throw her the best bridal shower, along with her good friends and Mom, which I'm very close to. It's going to be Oh, so darling to say the least. Her colors are midnight blue, lavender, black and dove- so pretty, right? Get ready to see some behind the scene sneak peeks of the planning process! Follow my pins {my link is on the sidebar} to keep up with everything that inspires me. Thanks for sticking with me, hope you're all having an amazing week!

Lots of Balloons

{Image via ban.do}
For having quite the tacky reputation, we have to admit that there's just something about a room filled with colorful or even monochromatic balloons that brings out the smiley, giddy kid in all of us {i.e, see the fun post below}. Choosing to decorate with balloons can be a slippery slope, but if done right the outcome can be whimsical, creative, and fun. I love editorials with a bunch of balloons as props, both the Dior ad and  that specific editorial scene in Funny Face take place in Paris, maybe there's something to that too.

Color Palette: Rainbow Confetti

{Image via SMP| Rue}

This party shoot looks like a blast! It's all about having some colorful, glittery, girly fun. Don't you wish every day was a celebration? I figure if I work some more bright colors and glittery pieces in my wardrobe it'll add instant sunshine to my day...That, and some fun makeup of course. Nothing chases away the dull, stuck-in-a-rut, blahs like brightly painted lips, flirty lashes and a shiny mani!
Have a fun weekend!

Pancakes, Darling.

 What I'd give to have a breakfast set up like this right now- teacups, fresh juice, and all the fresh fruit and pancakes a girl could eat...This pancake bar looks so delicious.

 Oh, and who doesn't love cereal?
Happy Weekend!

Valentine's Day Dessert Tables

Get ready to have an aching in your sweet tooth!
 ***
I love Valentine's Day because I love hearts, the colors pink, red & white, desserts {and any sweet treat for that matter} and LOVE! I'm a sucker for dessert tables decorated Oh, so cute like with darling cake stands, jars and pedestals dripping with candy and pastries in coordinating colors. If you're looking to set up a dessert table of your own for you and your sweetheart {or little baby sweethearts} here are some {along with yummy dessert ideas} in my favorite colors to get inspired!
I like the simplicity of all the white with red accents and how the florals make this table.

These are so pretty it'd hurt to bite in to them...almost.

Red & White stripes + Milk glass=

Okay, I know this cake is huge but I just had to include it, it's amazing!! I'm in love with stripes so you'll notice a lot of them in this post :) Including in the trimming of this cake that is just like twine, so adorable. And the pretty flowers are done like fabric rosettes. Swoon.

Super cute ideas for kids with lots of pink and little hearts.
It's an extra treat if their birthday is on Valentine's.
