Romantic Shabby-Chic Bridal Shower Florals

L | M | R
           Milk Glass   |  Mercury Glass

Happy Monday! I'm so excited the weather is cooling of and it's slowly beginning to feel like Fall, I can't wait for rain actually. So I'm making all the florals for my friend's upcoming shower that I've been blogging about lately and I'm pretty excited. I don't have a lot of experience but enough to undertake the job.

I have decided on using a mix of milk and mercury glass vessels to keep with the elegant, shabby-chic theme. As for the flowers, my ideal choices I'll be looking for are soft pink and peach roses, some lavender hydrangea, white or cream mums and maybe some sweet peas and dahlias if I'm lucky. The centerpieces will be eclectic and include vases of different sizes along with other decor like frames and teacups that will be sitting on doilies. I'm off to brain storm ideas and plan some more!

Today I Like: Pretty Cruisers

{1/2/3}

Isn't she pretty?

For my birthday my lovely husband got me a cruiser, I've been wanting one for so long. I chose a black and hot pink cruiser because they didn't have my first choice of mint and white. It has yet to be completely decked out, a basket and cute bell is in order. These one's above I found on Pinterest are so pretty and girly, don't you think? There's something whimsical about a bike with a basket full of flowers. If you're in the market for one, this one at Target is so cute.

Kids Photography: Sandrine Castellan

{Photography by Sandrine Castellan}
Isn't this photography darling?? Sandrine Castellan's has great perspective with inviting light. I love the styling and wardrobe for this whimsical shoot, it's so dreamy. Not to mention these little girls are adorable. The mixture of layers, textures and patterns- it's like the little girls dressed themselves. I like that.

Color Palette: Rainbow Confetti

This party shoot looks like a blast! It's all about having some colorful, glittery, girly fun. Don't you wish every day was a celebration? I figure if I work some more bright colors and glittery pieces in my wardrobe it'll add instant sunshine to my day...That, and some fun makeup of course. Nothing chases away the dull, stuck-in-a-rut, blahs like brightly painted lips, flirty lashes and a shiny mani!
Have a fun weekend!

Eclectic Pretty: Teal and Hot Pink Dessert Table

{Images via Somewhere Splendid/ Design by Botanica Floral Design}
I instantly fell for this colorful dessert table when I saw it at Somewhere Splendid yesterday. It's a bit Moroccan and a bit Indian modernized with splashes of bright colors. I love the simple yet eye-catching florals and all the pretty detailed glassware. They definitely jazzed up milk and cookies. Such pretty details in the Italian pizzelle cookies. If you want to try making these pretty cookies you can find recipes here.

{As Timeless as Tiffany's}

It's here!

The new issue of Nonpareil Magazine includes my beauty article "As Timeless as Tiffany's" based on my favorite movie, Breakfast at Tiffany's. The article is a how-to for bridal makeup and hair styling inspired by the glamorous Holly Golightly.  I'm so proud of this shoot and the finished look. I've been an adoring long-time Audrey Hepburn fan and to finally see my take on her style and beauty come to life is a dream come true.

Coming up with the concept, designing it and then styling it were so much fun, especially because I got to work with some amazing girls. Thanks Brittany, Hayley, and Chelsey for helping me make my little dream come true! Nonpareil is a lovely DIY craft magazine for brides and designers. This issue, their fourth, is themed after the silver screen and includes articles based on films {some of my very favorites I must say} including Marie Antoinette, Amelie, To Catch a Thief, and Chocolat. It's full of delicious eye candy! And super cute how-to's. If you don't already read it, you must. It's free. Look for more pictures from this shoot soon on my beauty blog, MyHeartistry.

{Oh, so lovely: Ikea}

Everyone in the blog world is raving about the new direction that Ikea has taken for it's new catalog and I couldn't agree more! I love the styling {found here} and photography for their new look. I think it caters to a lot more people, especially those of us that aren't huge modernist fans. Seriously, how many bright red slip covers and abstract furniture can you possibly cram into your place? This is a new direction; cozy, inviting and sopisticated. I love Ikea.
