What have you Pinned lately?

{For credits please go here}

Apparently I've been loving a lot of neutrals; everything from interior design to food in washes of greys, creams, blush, and champagne have popped up on my pinboard. I love white in the kitchen and bedroom. An lately I can't stop buying clothes in grey. What color palette are you loving lately?

Color Palette: Sweet Pastels

I'm insanely drawn to sweet pastel palettes like this one! I usually make my own but I had to pass along this one I found via Pinterest from The Sweetest Occasion. It reminds me of the upcoming Spring and all the pretty things it brings with it as well as all the things I'm hoping for. Things I hope will blossom into lovely events, great changes and fond memories. It's such a refreshing mix of colors isn't it? What do you most anticipate about Spring?

Today I LIke: Biscoff Spread

Not so much like but love this spread! And what's even better than the awesome taste is that it's dairy-free and vegan. I just discovered this today and I can't believe I've lived without it! Hope you try this spread, you'll love me for it. They have it next to the peanut butter at the grocery store. I came across some yummy recipes made from this spread and thought I'd pass them along, a recipe for Biscoff pumpkin cupcakes and one for Biscoff oatmeal cookies. I slathered this spread on toast and topped it with sliced bananas and a dusting of cinnamon. Yummm!

Going Dairy-Free

Milk does a body good? In my case, not so much. Over the last couple years I have become lactose intolerant. Quite the sad truth. Growing up on whole milk has caught up with me and I no longer can indulge as before. How I wish I could enjoy a huge dollop of freshly whipped cream or a mountain high ice cream sundae or lots of delicious cheese...So what is there to do about the matter? First of all, there is a difference between a dairy allergy and lactose intolerance. You might want to go to the doctor to determine which one you think you are. Thank goodness that now there are several dairy alternatives. Yay! If you're in the same boat as I am, I hope I can be of some help.

As far as milk alternatives go there are almond, soy, rice and coconut milks (among lactose-free milk like Lactaid) that are simply delicious. Substitute any of these milk alternatives in anything you'd normally add milk to. If you love yogurt you'll love kefir. Lifeway's kefir probiotic smoothie drink is so good and is 99% lactose-free and gluten-free. And in my research for butter alternatives there's Earth Balance Vegan Buttery Sticks (which I really want to try out). They also make vegan mayo, spreads and shortening. I'm okay with butter for now but want to know my options for when my body decides to reject that too {that'll be a sad, sad day}. I think I should undertake dairy-free baking next. hhmm...I think I'm going to check out a few dairy-free cookbooks to make the transition to dairy-free easier.

It's been shown that going dairy-free helps improve skin's appearance. If you have persistant blemishes it might help to go off dairy and see if your skin benefits from that. I know that alone is worth the attempt. Beauty is such a motivator! So ladies, I would love to know who's dairy-free and any advice you may have for me that is considering a completely dairy-free diet. Recipe's, dairy-free food blogs, tips, or shared wisdom is appreciated. Thanks lovelies!

Defining Decor: Canopy Beds

{All images were sourced as being from Tumblr if you have proper credit info please let me know)

Hi everyone, I've been away for a while but I'm back to post about one of my latest design loves, canopy beds. They're romantic, comfy and cozy, and add a soft touch to the bedroom. Above are some that I've stumbled upon on Pinterest and pinned to my Home Sweet Home board. I really like the bed tucked away in what used to be a closet, so genius. And with the curtains drawn no one would know what's behind them. Sheer chiffon doesn't close in space instead adds an airy feel, so pretty. Add a chandelier to create warm lighting and contrast. I'm definitely keeping these decor ideas in mind for a future bedroom.

Recipe: Baked Pumpkin Spice Donuts

It's Fall which means I'm in a pumpkin recipe rampage and I decided to make this yummy recipe for baked pumpkin donuts from Cheeky Kitchen. I love pumpkin (you'll see from the next couple recipe's I'll be posting) and have a donut baking mold from Sur La Table so it was calling out to me to make them.

They smell and taste amazing, aren't difficult to make and are fun to put together. I used a piping bag to fill the molds with the dough and used to forks to easily dip the donuts top down into the glaze. Who doesn't love donuts? Get the recipe after the jump.
