Hollywood Regency is easily my favorite design style. It may be hard to define but  it's  safe to say that above all it is glamorous, whether done casually or to the nines. It usually consists of Old Hollywood decor and furniture, of course {my favorite} along with a mixture of other styles including:
  • art deco/nouveau
  • mod-baroque
  • chinoserie {asian-themed items like bamboo, foo dog statuettes and intricate china prints}
  • rich fabrics like velvet, satin, silk and fur
  • Tufted upholstery
  • graphic prints {a variety of animal prints, chevron, trellis, or stenciled designs on wallpaper, pillows or rugs}
  • Venetian mirrors and mirrored surfaces
  • black and white lacquer
  • bold contrasts/colors and patterns {like black & white stripes and damask}
  • classic clean lines
  • gold accents
  • lavish crystal chandeliers
  • decorative lamps and busts

We see a lot of Hollywood Regency in high-end hotels such as the Viceroy, The Avalon and Maison 140 {all designed by Kelly Wearstler known in the industry to be the best in this style}, fine restaurants and retailers. And it's become really popular in interior design to say the least.  For example, mixing up Holly Regency with other styles like vintage found pieces, mid-century furniture and re-purposed DIY projects. Some people stick to sophisticated Old Hollywood pieces while other lean more towards either the more eclectic or chic contemporary side of the style. There's no wrong way to style it. Can't wait to see what your Hollywood Regency design looks like!

The Green drawers are lovely. This is a color I am loving right now, it reminds me of the new Estee Lauder Nail colour in wicked green:

Yes, I love all the deep emerald green at the Viceroy in Santa Monica. I've been there and that color really captivates, especially against all the black and white. It's such a stylish hotel.
